Week of 1/7/19 Announcements & Race Info and Signup for Tuesday January 8 Meet at Wirth

Monday - MEET IN CLASSROOM RIGHT AFTER SCHOOL. Then easy practice at school and all skiers who are doing the classic technique race on Tuesday will need to prep skis. You should have your classic skis cleaned, taped and sanded. Coaches may have further prep instructions so make sure to check in after school. Those needing to glide wax their skis may also do so. After your skis are done, skiers may go ski on their own.

Workout - 60 mins easy with some short 20 second L5 pickups. If you plan to run, you can go for an easy 30-45 minute run but mix in some strides.

Tuesday JV1 and Varsity Classic race at Wirth, JV2 will skate race unless you have classic skis and want to do the classic race. Race info and signup below, please sign up by Monday, 7:00pm using the form below.

Wednesday - Bus to Wirth leaving school at 3:15 and returning around 5:30.

Workout - 90 minute easy skate ski. Focus on V2 technique. Varsity and JV1 skiers should try to V2 everything but steep hills

Thursday -  Bus to Wirth leaving school at 3:15 and returning around 5:30.


Varsity/JV1 - Skate Intervals.

JV2 - Work on V2 technique.

Friday - JV2 Invited to Practice!! Bus to Elm Creek for fun ski and some games. Bus leaves school at 3:45pm and will return around 6:30pm.

Saturday - Full Details for Saturday practice is TBD, 2 hr ski with 20 sec L5 pickups

Our next race/meet is Tuesday, January 8 at Theodore Wirth Park at 4pm.

This is a classic race and the distance is 5km for Varsity, JV1 and JV2 with classic skis. JV2 without classic skis will do a 5k skate race. We encourage all skiers who have classic skis to do the classic race, there will be a lot of other skiers at the race who are new to this technique!

Waxing Instructions: We will meet in the classroom at the start of practice to talk about wax instructions. Skiers who are doing the classic race need to have their kick zones CLEANED, marked or taped, and sanded. Coaches may have other waxing instructions for kick zone on Monday so make sure to come straight to the meeting at the start of practice. All racers need to be there. 

1:40 pm: West skiers are dismissed early from class. Bus leaves West at 1:45 (This bus will have a trailer, so if your skis are not already at the high school, put them on the trailer). You will meet the rest of the team at the High School, get changed, and get your skis from the wax room.  If racing, get your bib.

2:00 pm: North and High School skiers are dismissed early. Get changed, get your bib, get your skis, and get on the bus.

2:25 pm: Buses leave HHS.

2:45 pm: Arrive at Wirth. Time to kick wax skis and warm up. Coaches will help and teach first year skiers in the practice area.

4:00 pm:  Race start, First Varsity, then JV1, then JV2.

6:15 pm-6:30: Buses arrive back at school. (This is after the activity buses leave.)
