Winter Break Training Plan

Remember, if you are traveling or unable to attend a team practice, please do dry land training or skiing on your own.

JV2 and First Year Skiers Training Plan for Winter Break

The focus for JV2 (and first year skiers) is to build skills and confidence by just skiing!
  
Before and after practice, spend a couple of minutes reviewing the technique videos, especially for No Poles and V1.

You can join any of the scheduled practices this week or get out on your own or with friends.

Each practice you should:

Check in with the coach at the beginning of practice. We will have a specific skill session for 20-30 minutes as a group. 

Then you will have time to do the following:
15 minutes (at least): No Poles Skating

10 minutes: Double Poling 

Rest of the time: Regular skiing, focusing having your weight on one ski at a time and gliding.

Make sure you check in with a coach a couple of times to check body position, technique, etc.


Monday, 12/25
Off, but get out and do something easy on your own, run 30-45 minutes or ski 60 minutes. 

Tuesday, 12/26
Meet at Hyland at 2:30 pm
Varsity/JV1- 
Intervals, bring both classic and skate  
Warm up 30 minutes L1/L2
5 mins L3
2 min L4 
3x20 second L5
2 min L4
5 min L3

Wednesday, 12/27
Meet at Hyland at 2:30 pm
Varsity/JV1- 
60-90 minutes L1/L2 ski, bring both classic and skate

Thursday 12/28
Meet at Wirth at 9:00 am
Varsity/JV1- 
L4 Intervals, bring both classic and skate

Friday, 12/29
Meet at Hyland at 2:30pm
Varsity/JV1- 
L1/L2 ski 60-90 minutes, bring both classic and skate

Saturday 12/30
Update:  No outdoor practice 🌡 .  Changed to 10:00 AM at HHS for weight room and waxing for ski camp.
Meet at Wirth at 9am
Varsity/JV1- 
60-90 minute L1/L2 ski, bring both classic and skate 
 
JV2 - Ski!



Sunday, 12/31 - Off

Monday, 1/1 
New Year's Day, workout on own, try to get out for an easy ski or run if you are out of town and not near snow. 

Tuesday, 1/2
No team practice 
Varsity -  Make sure to get out and ski for an hour on your own at some point. This is important because we’ll be on the bus tomorrow and won’t have too big a ski the first day. 

Wednesday 1/3
Leave for ski camp. Meet at the high school at 8am to load bus. Bus leaves promptly at 8:30

If you are not attending ski camp, make sure you are skiing or working out on you own.
